Prayer Chapel

Our Prayer Chapel is available for private prayer and contemplation whenever our buildings are open.

The Prayer Chapel is now to be found in the ‘Homan Room’.

Before the refurbishment of the church the Prayer Chapel was in the east transept of the church. It was originally created in memory of Betty Pilgrim. Betty Pilgrim was a member of the church and a leader of the Girl Guides who died tragically in a car accident in 1972.

Following the death of Betty Pilgrim’s husband, Basil, the Prayer Chapel was refurbished in 2016 and a new illuminated stained glass panel was installed in memory of Basil. Basil Pilgrim served for many years as an elder of the church and a leader of the Scouts.

The stained glass panel and the commemorative plaque have now been moved into the Homan Room, which offers a much more conducive space for quiet reflection and prayer in the midst of a sometimes very busy building.
